4/15/15 is the Mondragon founder's 100th birthday

April 15 is the 100th anniversary of Father Arizmendiarrieta's birth. He founded a Spanish/Basque cooperative--"Mondragon"--an employer of more than 74,000 which is owned by its employees rather than Spanish plutocrats.

Pretty impressive, for a Christian. You can read about Mondragon in Wikipedia here.

...and about efforts to establish such businesses in the U.S. here.

Says one union co-op in the UK (in Tikkun magazine): "We're a 200 employee, worker controlled, £44million business exporting to 40 countries and growing fast. And we pay double market rate wages. www.suma.coop is proof that coop+union is a killer combination."
